In subsequent years, he served as the credit union’s chief financial officer for almost a decade, later becoming president in 2017, and then president/CEO on January 1, 2019, which he serves in this capacity today. Downeast Credit Union is the majority owner of Culane, and Joe has served as the chairman of Culane since its inception in late 2017.

Mr. Moses specializes in organizational development and management and has proven experience as an effective indirect lender. Mr. Moses is an honors graduate of the CUNA Management School, Washington County Community College, the University of Maine at Machias, the American Public University, and the California Southern University.

Renee Sherrard – Operations Manager

Renee Sherrard is the Operations Manager for CULANE. Renee has exemplary attention to detail as well as managerial duties, and the ability to multitask and take on a variety of duties in a fast-paced working environment. Renee has built strong relationships with all our dealerships over the years and since the launch of CULANE in March of 2018.  Additionally, Renee fosters relationships with Credit Unions throughout Maine and maintains a professional, courteous manner during communication between underwriters, funders, dealerships, Credit Unions, and processors.

Josh Plisga – Senior Underwriter

Josh comes to CULANE with 20 years of experience in Credit Union consumer lending. He enjoys working with Dealers and Credit Unions, connecting members with reliable transportation to help make their life routines a little easier. In his spare time, he loves spending time with his family and watching sports, especially the Red Sox, Celtics, and LA Rams. Josh lives in Winslow with his wife, Lee, their son, Carter, and Mack their black lab.

Sally Coleman – Senior Underwriter

Sally Coleman has been underwriting consumer loans for almost two decades.  She began her career at Downeast Credit Union in 2003 and soon entered the lending space.  Throughout her career at Downeast, she served a lengthy tenure as branch manager at the credit union’s main headquarters and later became the credit union’s indirect lending manager.

When Culane was created in March of 2018, Sally transitioned from indirect lending manager at Downeast Credit Union to a senior underwriter at Culane.  After a couple of months into Culane, Sally decided to transition to Quirk Subaru of Bangor, becoming their finance manager.  Lucky for us at Culane, we reached out to Sally to see if she would be interested in returning to Culane – and she said ‘YES’, now she’s back home with the team she has worked with for more than seventeen years.

Julie Carrier – Underwriter & Loan Processor

Julie was an Air Force dependent throughout her childhood up until the time she graduated from high school. She was undecided about her professional future when she moved to Calais, the hometown of her mother, and it was there that she met the man who would become her husband of 28 years.

In 1989, Julie began her career in banking by taking a job at a community bank in the city of Calais. While she focused on raising her family, she took a break from working in the financial sector.

She began her career in underwriting and processing in 2009 at Downeast Credit Union, where she was also employed on the front line as a member service representative (MSR). She worked at DECU, where she eventually became a loan officer in 2012 and also handled her own loans. 2021 saw her make the move to Culane, where she is now employed in both the underwriting and processing departments.

Her favorite things to do in her leisure time are, go four-wheeling with her husband, work in her garden, and hang out with her friends and family.

Monica Laney – Indirect Loan Processor

Monica is CULANE’s Indirect Loan Processor. She brings seven years of expertise to the organization, having taken a little time off for the most challenging job of her career: a stay-at-home mom. Since being back in the workforce, Monica has developed great relationships with our dealerships and credit unions. She looks forward to serving credit unions and dealerships with her diverse background.
